Visitor-Submitted Advice:

It's not about the price of the date...
"Most of my friends and the girls I've talked to have decided the cheaper dates were the most fun they have been on, so don't stress about the money. What I'm saying is, dates don't always have to be expensive; you can play hide and go seek, have a cute picnic with one of her favoite games, or something. But just remember if you're going to go cheap, be creative so she doesn't think you just threw it together 5 minutes before you got there. Oh, and be yourself. :)" -KarLee Savage, Highland, UT

5 Things Women Hate
"Ok guys, so you have a basic idea of what women appreciate, but I'd like to offer some "NO NO's" when you're on that special date.

1. Don't relentlessly prattle on about yourself for the duration. Show some genuine interest in us, we have a life too you know, so LISTEN.

2. Don't be a "know-all" and pretend you have the answer to everything. You might actually be able to learn something from this woman!

3. Don't big-note about your achievements, how much money you earn, what influential connections you have, etc. To put it simply, don't be a "show-off"!

4. Don't be overly confident, super-opinionated or arrogant. You and your mother might think you're wonderful, but keep it under your hat!

5. Don't act like you're doing HER a favour by taking her on a night out. The privilege works both ways!

Basically leave your ego at the door when you leave home and you'll find you get a much more positive response than if you promote yourself as "Mr Wonderful". Just remember that self-praise is no recommendation.

Several Tips on Dating and Appearance
"The best thing you can do on a date is just be as creative as possible. Do something unorthodox that you wouldn't normally think of. (Once my boyfriend and I spontaneously decided to make life-size, found material sculptures of ourselves and then decorated them together... that was hilarious!) Don't be extravagant about it, but working small, unusual things into a date and going new places together can be more fun than the traditional candlelight dinner-type outing.

Also, a word about dressing for dates: don't stress about it. Just keep up a clean appearance - don't be afraid to use moisturizer or facial soap or whatever because it seems too girly. There's nothing un-masculine about good skin. As for clothes, it's important to buy the occasional fashion magazine or skim a fashion web site, just to check out the basics of what's in. You don't have to overdo it, especially if your girlfriend isn't too concerned about it, but it's helpful to think about it once in a while. Don't worry about looking plain - you SHOULD be able to show that you're interesting with your personality ;-)." -Kate, Oregon

Take her to the boardwalk!
"If you are within driving distance of the shore, a trip to the boardwalk makes a perfect date! It shows your fun side and assures her a good time, too! Just picture all the classic moments. Win her a prize at a boardwalk game. Ride the rollercoaster together. Buy her cotton candy. Go for a walk on the beach as the sun is setting. At night, riding the ferris wheel creates a potential romantic moment. And if things are going good, try to find quiet spot overlooking the waves crashing below, a perfect spot for a perfect kiss. All around, it is the perfect date." -Linda S., New Brunswick, NJ, USA

Perfect?
"I think the perfect date would consist of a few things. If this is a relationship you are nurturing then here goes.

-A romantic place to eat.

-If the weather permits, camping next to a campfire to make love your significant other.

-Going on a road trip and finding a romantic hotel. Instead of making love, cuddling and talking.

-A good movie, for ladies something funny or romantic.

Going to another state--a place neither of you have been--and explore together...

Thats my advice

Romantic Picnic
"A picnic at the local park is quite romantic!
Find a nice shady area (away from noisy kids or dogs) for your picnic. But also make sure you come prepared with the essential items (you don't want her to be hassled with the preparations... she just has to sit back, relax and enjoy). These are are some of the items you might need:

a long picnic blanket or cloth for you to sit and cuddle

a picnic basket with:
food - sandwiches, her fave desserts, salad, fruits, chocolates, her fave foods etc.
utensils
plates
napkins
glasses
water
champagne glasses -- don't forget to bring the champagne or sparkling wine

flowers - it would be good if you could get her favorite kind.

a music player or something that provides all the sweetest romantic tunes -- no heavy metal or hard rock unless that's what she loves. You want to set the mood here.

Now, picnics are such romantic outings, but YOU should be able to carry on the romance on your own. Feed each other (especially if you're handling strawberries or fruits). And you might want to put away the food after you're done so you could enjoy the rest of the day cuddling. You might even want to watch the sunset.

Good luck on your date! I know I'd feel special if my guy planned this for me... :)" -Jane,

It depends on the girl
"If you're considering dating someone, the best thing you can do first is to get to know her. Once you understand more aobut her personality and the things she likes and dislikes, it should be easier to know what would make a perfect date.

Second. No date is going to be perfect. If you understand this from the get go, you'll won't feel as afraid of being disappointing. Remember, if you're taking a girl out on a date, you want her interest to be in you as well as in what you're doing.

Some girls like a nice dinner, some like dinner and a movie. Others may enjoy going to the fair, or trying something totally new. Many women, you'll find, will be happy with any gesture. We can tell when you try, and as long as she appreciates that, things should go well. If she doesn't, I'd suggest moving on to a different gal." -Helen Koladda, East Coast US

It's all about her
"No date is going to be completely perfect. Know what she likes. Make the day/evening/hour whatever time you have all about her. If she doesn't have to think or worry about a thing and can just relax and have a nice time, then she'll love it. Remember the little things; there is no need to be extravagant." -Adele,
